Dukemeal Restaurant

Author: Thomas “KiD” W
Release Date: June 17 2005
Story: A fast food restaurant. The level is broken into several small chunks which is how overall progress is achieved. Not only is more ground being gained, but the aliens get tougher and more numerous. Weapons and health are also dished out accordingly. The map is well detailed and has good texture combinations and strong shading. There aren’t many sounds, but enough to provide at least a little additional ambiance and keep things from feeling to still and quiet. The environment isn’t restricted to just the dining area and service counter of a restaurant; Duke leaves the facility for a little back alley, then re-enters in a separate section for customer service. This leads to some back room freezers, processing equipment, and storage rooms. The map wraps up with a street section and a conference center. It sounds like alot, but navigating around is fairly linear and involves crawling through alot of vents. Usually a door or wall crack will allow the player access back to earlier sections of the map, and while that provides a sense of openness, it really serves no purpose to backtrack to those locations for any reason.
